Chelsea stayed top of the Premier League with an impressive demolition job on Aston Villa at Stamford Bridge.

Two Robert Green errors and a stunning Matthew Taylor free-kick secured victory for Bolton at West Ham.

The Hammers keeper gifted Bolton their opener when he dropped a hopeful cross at Kevin Davies’ feet and the striker poked the ball into an empty net.

Wes Brown and Wayne Rooney got the goals as Manchester United recorded a fourth consecutive win by seeing off Blackburn at a rain-soaked Ewood Park.

Brown headed in from a Rooney cross, although Blackburn claimed keeper Jason Brown had been impeded by United’s Nemanja Vidic in the build-up.

Rooney swept home a second after a blistering burst of pace from Cristiano Ronaldo down the right wing.

West Brom 1-0 Fulham

Oct 4, 2008

Roman Bednar was West Brom’s hero as he grabbed their winner against Fulham.

The Baggies upped the pace and tempo of the game in the second half and Ryan Donk saw his header hit the post.

The visitors did not heed the warning and Bednar rewarded his side’s efforts when he poked in a shot after the visitors had failed to clear a corner.

Danny Murphy had a shot deflected wide, Clint Dempsey headed over and Seol Ki-Hyeon curled an effort wide for Fulham but they failed to find a breakthrough.

Fulham’s main problem was their lack of cutting edge in front of goal and Bednar’s effort proved decisive in an entertaining game.
