Liverpool sunk by fans own beach ball

Yesterday Liverpool lost 1-0 to Sunderland when the ball deflected off a beach ball. To add insult to injury, the beach ball had been thrown onto the pitch by one of their own fans! No doubt that guy would have got a lot of stick from the fans around him.

The rules actually state that the goal should not have stood, but the referee’s decision is final and the goal was given.

This loss adds to Liverpool’s worries and they now sit 8th in the table after 9 games. They were without Gerrard and Torres, and this goes to show how important those two players actually are to the team.
